What is NAD and its Precursors?
NAD, or Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, is a coenzyme found in all living cells that plays a critical role in energy production and cellular health. It exists in two forms: NAD+ and NADH. NAD+ is essential for various biological processes, including metabolism, DNA repair, and regulating cellular aging.
As we age, our natural levels of NAD+ decline, leading to reduced longevity and an increased risk of various diseases.

Taking NAD+ in supplement form is generally ineffective because it is too large to be easily absorbed through the digestive tract and may break down before reaching cells. Instead, precursors such as nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) are often used in dietary supplements because they convert to NAD+ in the body. These precursors can effectively boost NAD+ levels.
A Note about Excipients! As with all our products, we do NOT use excipients (aka “inactive ingredients,” such as rice flour, fillers, etc.). This is crucial because when you purchase dietary supplements (particularly high-cost products), you expect to receive what you’re paying for, not rice flour (or other fillers).
Rice flour is a low-cost ingredient that most companies use to facilitate the manufacturing processes during encapsulation. While the content of rice flour should not exceed 2%-5%, companies are taking advantage of customers by adding 10%-25% or even more rice flour to their products. That means customers are being cheated.
Unless the product is sent to a lab for testing, there’s no way to know the actual content of rice flour (or any excipient). Significantly lower-priced supplements are loaded with rice flour and similar excipients. By being aware of this, you can make informed decisions about the supplements you choose.
